EMNES Policy Workshop: Achieving Policy Impact

News

The EMNES Policy Workshop Programme was co-organised by CEPS Academy, the educational branch of CEPS, and EMEA, and took place in Brussels on 01-03.07. The workshop focused on achieving policy impact and it was coordinated by Cinzia Alcidi, Head of the Economic Policy Unit, CEPS, and Willem Pieter De Groen, Head of the Financial Markets and Institutions Unit, CEPS.

The policy insights and the long-term actions embedded in the EMNES policy roadmap were presented directly to policy makers to help shaping a shared view of future EU policies vis-a-vis the region. The work sessions combine meetings with EU officials in form of conversations and exchanges, as well as group activities to foster team work and to improve communications skills.

Among the policy workshop speakers were:

  • Maria Helena de Felipe Lehtonen, President of AFAEMME – Association of Organisations of Mediterranean Businesswomen – and President of the Euromed Follow-up Committee of the EESC – European Economic and Social Committee
  • Bruce Haase, CEPS
  • Rémi Piérot, Administrator at the Secretariat of the Committee on International Trade of the European Parliament
  • Yohann Chaigneau, Senior policy officer, Department for Lending in the EU Neighbouring Countries, European Investment Bank
  • Fernando Gentilini, Managing Director for the Middle East and North Africa, European External Action Service – EEAS

During the workshop, teams of EMNES researchers visited DG Trade and DG-EMPL were they presented EMNES policy roadmaps for the Euro-Mediterranean and discussed with the representatives of the European Commission. Furthermore, a visit was organised to the European Parliament.
