Partners News

The Founding President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, Prof. Rym Ayadi, participated to the 3rd Union for the Mediterranean Regional Forum.

H.E. Mr. Nasser Kamel, UfM Secretary General, gave the opening remarks and the keynote speaker of the Forum was H.E. Mr. Johannes Hahn, Commissioner for EU Neighbourhood & Enlargement.

During the session “Engaging the Private Sector in Human and Sustainable Development Efforts” of the Med4Jobs Stakeholders’ Dialogue, Prof. Rym Ayadi underlined:

  • The UN Sustainable Development Goals cannot be successful without the active and constructive engagement of the private sector in the Euro-Mediterranean region.
  • The social responsibility of the private sector must be emphasized and the sector is required to find ways to better embed the UN SDGs in all activities.
  • Social business in the Euro-Mediterranean must be promoted and a legal framework must be adopted
  • The traditional concept of regional integration that is built on the six interactive dimensions (trade, investment, monetary, institutional, human and infrastructure) must be also socially responsible, inclusive and sustainable.
