News

The President of the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA, and Director of the Euro-Mediterranean Network for Economic Studies – EMNES, Prof. Rym Ayadi participated at the workshop on Bank Business Models which took place at Cass Business School – City, University of London on 19 June 2019.

The event was organised by the Centre for Banking Research at Cass Business School and the Euro-Mediterranean Economists Association – EMEA. The workshop discussed cutting-edge research and implications for academics, practitioners, and policy-makers on bank business models

During the Workshop, the Director of the Centre for Banking Research at Cass Business School, Prof. Barbara Casu presented the paper “Bank Business Model Migrations in Europe: Determinants and Effects”, co-authored with Prof. Rym Ayadi, Doriana Cucinelli and Paola Bongini.

Furthermore, the new book of Prof. Rym Ayadi: “Business Models in banks: definition, identification and financial stability assessment – Europe, United States and Canada” was launched at the BBM workshop.

The book is a result of several years of research to provide readers with a novel and comprehensive analysis on business models in banking, essential to understanding bank businesses pre- and post- financial crisis and how they evolve in the financial system. This book will provide depositors, creditors, credit rating agencies, investors, regulators, supervisors, and other market participants with a comprehensive analytical framework and analysis to better understand the nature of risk attached to the bank business models and its contribution to systemic risk throughout the economic cycle. The book will also guide post-graduate students and researchers delving into this topic.

At the end of workshop during the policy panel moderated by Prof. Barbara Casu, CBR Director and Chaired by Prof. Claudia Girardone, University Essex, the new edition of the Banking Business Models Monitor: “Banks Business Models Monitor: EUROPE. Performance, Risk, Regulation and Resolution 2005-2018” was presented and discussed with Peter Andrews from OXERA and Marina Cernov from the European Banking Authority. During this event, the online research platform on bank business models was launched (https://bbmresearch.org/)
